Welcome to The Dusty Miller! We're Gordon and Kaya Speagle, the husband-and-wife team behind The Dusty Miller and Dusty Miller Goods.

Our story began at Kaya's first bakery, where we met, and we've been building, creating and dreaming up what comes next together ever since. Kaya has spent years working in restaurants and bakeries, including Boise favorites like Barbacoa and À Tavola, with plenty of traveling, living abroad and culinary adventures along the way.

Kaya's first brick-and-mortar bakery, Hopscotch, started small, with farmers market booths and cakes made for friends and family. Over time, it grew into a much-loved neighborhood bakery and gathering place.

After years of building something truly special, we decided it was time for a new adventure. We sold our businesses, packed up our three kids and headed west, back to Kaya's hometown of Boise and toward what would eventually become The Dusty Miller.

Kaya has spent her career learning that good food is only part of what makes people return. It's also about creating a space that feels warm, interesting and genuinely good to be in, whether someone is celebrating something important or simply stopping by on a Saturday morning.

Building that kind of place takes instinct, care and a real understanding of hospitality. Making a life in the food-service industry also takes a particular kind of passion, the kind that survives early mornings, long days and years of hard work. Kaya has built her career around both: making good food and creating places where people want to gather.

After a few turbulent years, and a lot of honest conversations about what would truly be right for the future of The Dusty Miller, we're incredibly happy to have found a place that feels like the right fit, right here in our own neighborhood.

Joining Jamie and Andrew at the 36th Street Event Center feels a little serendipitous. We share a genuine love for this neighborhood, and we can't wait to see what our two businesses can create together for the community around us.
